  • Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge is a wet location, which isn’t bad if you are an avid angler. This is a great place for fishing near the beach, such as hiking along the Jeff Friend Trail to Little Lagoon. There is also a freshwater lake (Gator Lake) open for fishing, but be wary that the fishing population is limited due to saltwater inundation. 
  • The area is fantastic for boating too. You can launch a kayak or canoe from the Jeff Friend Trail kayak launch site in addition to Gator Lake.
  • A resource for all visitors is the Visitor Center. You can learn about the history, wildlife, flora, and fauna from the experienced staff here. 
  • Trails and beach access are open from sunrise until sunset every day.
